Following a long research process and with the support of engineering companies and scientific and research centres, M3system has developed an innovatively designed building. Its load-bearing structure is made of cement combined with glass fibre, one of the most durable materials known, and the thermal insulation is made of foamed polystyrene. Small specific weight of the material makes it easy to transport, unload and connect particular elements into a building structure.


    All components of the buildings are delivered to the construction site and put together on site by means of simple technical operations. As a highly important innovation, foamed polystyrene, a thermal insulation material featuring very low thermal conductivity, is used to form a building body in such a way as to eliminate thermal bridges.


   The survey „Blower Door Test” of a single family building built with the use of the M3 SYSTEM technology brought the total of n50 = 0.42 [1/h] which corresponds to the tightness targets adopted by the Polish Institute for Passive Housebuilding in cooperation with the Passive House Institute in  Darmstadt where the n50 parameter value should be below 0.6 [1/h]. The test was carried out in conformity with the Polish Standard PN-EN 13829, method B, with the installation holes and the heat recovery unit sealed.


   The wall is 30 cm thick at the thinnest spot, 70 cm thick at the ridge and 140 cm thick at the eaves’ height. The interconnected elements form an arch which is 6.6 m wide and approx. 4.3 m high (the outer dimensions) while being 6 m wide and 3.6 m high (the inner dimensions). We have also developed buildings which are 10.2 m wide and 5.9 m heigh and two storey buildings, 6.6 m wide i 7 m high. The latter ones use a steel structure and prefabricated I-section wooden ceiling beams. Thanks to the significant thickness of the combined elements, the building features high spatial rigidity and is a self-supporting body which is geometrically unchangeable and able to carry its own load and variable loads caused by wind and snow. The object is stable enough for the structure to be tied with a 18 cm thick reinforced concrete foundation slab with double reinforcement, cast wet on a polystyrene foam layer. The building walls and the foundation are interconnected by means of glass fibre mesh which wraps the entire building, reinforcing the glued elements, stiffens the spatial body and increases the compressive strength of the coating.    Since the house weight is small when compared to houses built with traditional techniques, it can be built on soils where traditional construction methods cannot be used due to the load-bearing capability. The total of all forces exerted on the walls, distributed over the smallest cross section, amounts to 250 kg/m2 while the compressive strength of the foamed polystyrene is approximately 750 kg/m2 – it means that there is a multifold spare load-bearing capacity. The foundation slab weight as related to the total of the loads exerted on the building is above 50%. This guarantees that the loads are uniformly distributed over the soil – approx. 9 kN/m2. The end wall of the building, closing its structure, is not an element of a repeatable arch and is built of aerated concrete blocks. The thermal insulation is made of a polystyrene foam layer. The partition walls are light system-based walls with a steel structure filled with mineral wool and covered with 12.5 mm thick fire-proof GKF plasterboard panels. Walls in sanitary rooms are built of double fire-proof and hydrophobised plasterboards. Minimum fire resistance of walls: EI 30 There is no traditional roof truss. The roofing rests on a rigid and spatial body. It is made of coated trapezoidal or roofing sheets fixed to a polystyrene roof formed of interconnected prefabricated elements (the building walls go into the roof). The standard roofs are available with a 30 degree slope.  To obtain a bigger inclination angle, glue an element profiling the required roof slope to the exterior side. Another element which can be freely shaped is the eaves.  The water supply and central heating systems are arranged in the floor, the mechanical ventilation and heat recovery systems – within the ceiling, and the electrical system – in the partition walls. In the houses of this type, you can freely arrange interiors and façades. Also, the building can take any shape.


   M3system offers quality construction of the building in the latest technology in the low-energy house standard, in which the average demand for useful heat is 30 kWh/(m2year). For a conventional building erected according to the current regulations, this value ranges from 90 to 120 kWh/(m2rok).


   The objects built by us feature a very good insulation ratio of external partitions and windows with a low heat transfer coefficient. The buildings are designed in such a way as to maintain the continuity of the thermal insulation and exclude the so-called thermal bridges.
